Ps. Tom & Janice Payne
Born and bred in Rochester New York, Pastor Tom Payne headed to Prescott Arizona with two high school friends in 1979 to start college and party as hard as they could. Expecting to continue a lifestyle of drugs and rock and roll, his life was turned up when his best friend Louie accepted an invitation to the Potters House and gave his life to Jesus.
Remembering every time through his high school years that he had been confronted with the claims of Jesus Christ Pastor Tom Payne told God that he couldn’t and wouldn’t fake it. Being confronted with the undeniable and equally radical transformation of his friend, he asked God to reveal Himself and God met with him. He received the miraculous power of God as he repented of his sins and gave himself to serving God in the Prescott Potters House church.
Ministry in USA and Kenya
He married his high school sweetheart Janice, and within four years was launched into the ministry. They were assigned the pastorate in Nevada and then pioneered a new church in New York. With now three young daughters he then served in Farmington, New Mexico before answering a need and becoming a missionary in Kenya, Nairobi. In the four years there over 20,000 decisions for Jesus Christ were made, he was able to raise up disciples and nationalize the work as well as oversee the construction of a building that has become a church planting conference centre. On returning to America he took over the Gallup congregation, steering it to a place of renewed fruitful evangelism, discipleship and church planting.
Ministry in Australia
Arriving in Perth in June 2009 to step into the role of senior Pastor of the Beechboro Potters House Christian Fellowship, he brought with him a wealth of experience. The local congregation and the Australian Fellowship have flourished under his leadership. Building on the previous 30 years, couples have continued to answer needs domestically with three pastoring flourishing congregations in Western Australia. Another three have been sent to Melbourne and three in Queensland. Seven missionaries are currently posted in China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Timor Leste and Thailand. The best years are yet to come as couples continue to be raised up through the discipleship process and planting out to replicate what they’ve experienced both locally, nationally and internationally.
